It was originally submitted to Frontiers in Microbiology (2020.6.8, submitted). Later it was arranged to Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology (2020.9.18, accepted). It was submitted on one day, and reviewed on the next day. Because the permission of the reprinted figures of others was not obtained, I was required to resubmit. One days later, it was resubmitted, and the executive editor was arranged, the efficiency was really high. Since the arranged executive editor never dealt with it, so the editorial department of Frontiers in Microbiology was arranged as executive editor. Maybe the content was more suitable for Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, it was transferred to this journal and its editorial department was arranged as executive editor. However, it was looking for the reviewers. The editor sent an email notification, asking me to recommend suitable editors and reviewers, but they were not adopted later. Later, there were reviewers who agreed to review. After review, there were two minor revisions. The revised manuscript was submitted in three days. Two editors decided to accept it in 5 days. One day later, the associate editor agreed to accept it. Generally speaking, it was very efficient and responsible. Although it was very hard to find reviewers and wait for it, it was finally accepted. I was my first time to submit to this journal, and I was not very clear about it. The impact factor was 4.123, and the publication fee was a bit high.

Submitted in November 2016 and accepted in January 2017. Although my article has been accepted, I feel that many people publish papers of low quality in this journal. The quality of these papers does not match its impact factor. Personally I think the journal is not as good as PLOS ONE or Scientific Report. Now the immediate impact factor is 3.1, and this year’s IF probably will be lower than 4. If you need a paper in a journal with an IF>5 to graduate, this journal is not a good choice. My advisor decided to submit to this journal, but my university's new regulation is that I need an IF>5 paper to graduate in 2017. Now I can’t graduate this year.

One month after submission, Reviewer 1 uploaded their comments. However, after waiting for four months, there was still no news from the other reviewers. After reminding once, the official reply stated that the reviewers had been urged and the other reviewers would soon upload their comments. Finally, after about five months, the results were obtained. The review comments were very detailed and the reviewers were very diligent and responsible. After each revision, the reviewers would carefully review the manuscript again and then provide a few minor revision suggestions. This process was repeated several times. Finally, after more than five months, the manuscript was accepted. The subsequent process was much faster. Many thanks to the reviewers for their efforts, and the editorial office was also very friendly and provided timely responses.
