It was submitted to JAP. There were 2 reviewers, one gave positive comments, the other one rejected it without giving substantive comments, and the editor suggested us to transfer it to AIP Advances. Due to the need for a paper for graduation, I had nothing to do but to switch. The submission was still with editor for nearly a month, we wrote a reminding email, and it was accepter the next day. Manuscript Ready for Production 16-Aug-2020; Decision Sent to Author 16-Aug-2020; Decision Letter Being Prepared 13-Aug-2020; Associate Editor Decision Completed 13-Aug-2020; Associate Editor Review 18-Jul-2020; Associate Editor Assigned 18-Jul-2020; Manuscript Submitted to Journal Office 9-Jul-2020.

I was anxious to publish it, so I submitted it to AIP Advances. This is an open access journal. The review speed is gratifying and the publication fee is not gratifying ($1400). Result returned after 30 days of the first review. The revised manuscript was returned 5 days later. It was accepted after 10 days of the second review. It was delayed for about 10 days due to the problem of the copyright declaration of the images. The entire submission process lasted 60 days. It is expected to be published in about 30 days. The entire process from submission to publication takes about 90 days.

Here is my struggle to publish this paper. I study electronic devices, and I have a paper submitted to APL, EDL, JAP, all rejected. At each journal, the review took  more than a month, two months at JAP. Each time there were two reviewers, who disagreed; Plus the time I spent on revising the paper and adding new experiments, it took a total of more than 9 months. Only someone who has such experience would know how hard it was. Eventually, the JAP editor suggested me to transfer it to AIP Advances. After the transfer, the AIP Advances editor found another reviewer. It took only one week for the review, and a total of only 12 days before the decision was made: accept as is. The efficiency is truly high. Although this journal is Q3, and publication is not free, I am satisfied with it because it is so fast. Finally, I strongly recommend people who want to publish soon should consider submitting here if the publication fee is not an issue. The speed is really fast (but may be because my paper was transferred there).

Can I ask everyone a question? I submitted my paper using a tex file, and then received some revision comments. After uploading the revised manuscript, the initial editor said there was a small issue that needed to be fixed before resubmission. I made the necessary changes as suggested by the editor, replied to the email, and included the revised manuscript along with the marked-up version. However, when I tried to replace the file again, I noticed that after replacing one file, an "approval" button appeared, and there was no option to replace other files. Has anyone encountered this situation before? Do I need to click "approval" before I can replace other files?

The reviewers have agreed to review the manuscript, but whether they will actually review it is uncertain. Usually, they will provide feedback within a month, but if some reviewers exceed the deadline, the manuscript will be reassigned to others.

Perhaps it should be, the situation I am facing now is similar to yours. A reviewer has been reviewing for many days and probably disappeared. Then we entered the stage of finding a new reviewer. And just one day later, the first reviewer has been found. Very helpless.

Actually, I don't know either. I guess the reviewer agreed to review the manuscript, but then backed out, and they had to find another one. The editorial department is very good at this aspect, they proactively send you an email every now and then, telling you not to worry, they are still looking for a reviewer.
