There were three reviewers, one didn’t have a clear attitude, the other two suggested accepting. I didn’t know why the editor rejected it directly. I wasted a year and missed many opportunities. A disgusting journal, The editor-in- chief said nothing else but apologized for the unusually long delay in the reviewing process. I won’t submit to this journal anymore!

It was estimated there was not enough time, so I refused to resubmit the revision. The reviewers are professional; they reviewed carefully, and can directly got to the points. It is a pity this time, although I think the impact factor is not high, it is still very recognized in the coating field.

I think this journal is good, it pays a lot of attention to coating and the preparation process of coating. I have had several articles in it. The speed of reviewing is quite fast. Generally, 40-50 days after submission, the reviewer (generally 3 reviewers) comments, and their opinions are objective and comprehensive. Although the number of manuscripts is relatively large, the speed of review is not slow. The articles generally take about 4 months from submission, through major reform, and then to acceptance, but it is very likely that articles will be accepted directly after the major changes. The impact factor in 2010 has risen to more than 2, and it is gratifying! At the same time as the impact factor is rising, the difficulty of being accepted is also rising. Our research team has submitted a total of 9 times since 2009, only 4 articles have been accepted, all after major reform.

I submitted my paper in August 2024. The first reviewer's comments were not very significant, they suggested major revisions. After making the revisions, two reviewers agreed to publish the paper. However, the third reviewer raised some unprofessional questions. I responded by referencing relevant literature and politely explaining why I disagreed with their points. The third reviewer became angry and started arguing back. I emailed the editor to appeal, but received no response. After waiting for several months, I had no choice but to withdraw my submission.

Submission on August 17th,
First review completed in about half a month, with a total of thirty to forty comments from three reviewers.
Replies were given in about 10 days, with a few comments that were difficult to change, reasons for not making changes were provided, and the reply was seven to eight pages long.
All three reviewers accepted the submission within three days, and it was officially accepted by the system on September 28th.
Proofreading was done on September 29th.
The process was very fast.
