The first SCI paper in my life! Nov 22, 2019, submitted; Nov 26, 2019, under review; Jan 10, 2020, major revision requested; Mar 01, 2020, revision completed; Apr 06, 2020, accepted for publication. It took more than one month for the first review and one month for the second review. The result of the first review was a major revision. There was a total of two reviewers, each of whom put forward 4 comments. The overall comments given by the reviewers are still relatively positive and appreciative, but they also raised more difficult issues (that I wanted to avoid discussing when doing research content). The editing speed of Dr. Murthy was still very fast. Even during the period when the epidemic was raging around the world, it was sent for review within a few days, and in the final acceptance email he also let us pay attention to our bodies, which was too cute. In short, it can be regarded as an explanation for my academic career ~ hard work will never be disappointed.

ATE generally will not reject a submission just because there aren't enough reviewers available in the short term. I once submitted a paper in a niche field and had to invite nearly 30 reviewers in batches before finally getting 3 to accept the review. In such cases, it may take longer to receive a decision (it took me 3 and a half months for the initial review). So don't worry too much, and good luck!

6. On February 16th, the editor invited a third reviewer, which should be when I submitted the revised manuscript, changing the paper type from short communication to original research, requiring more reviewer opinions.

7. On February 27th, all reviewer comments were received, with two reminders in between, stating the need for the paper due to graduation requirements, and the editor directly accepted the paper on March 17th. The opinions of the new third reviewer were minimal, one suggesting to modify the abstract (seemingly generated from a template), the second requesting a generic statement on the originality of the research, and the third asking for references from five articles reviewed (as all five references had the same first author).

8. The entire process took 4 months excluding the invitation of reviewers for arbitration, which could potentially reduce the time by at least one and a half months.

9. The responsible editor is Chief Editor Christos Markides, who may not be the fastest but is compassionate and has been supportive throughout, I am grateful for the editor's compassion!

Here is an explanation of the situation of this paper:
1. The first review took about 20 days, with two reviewers. It was later found out that the first reviewer rejected the paper, while the second reviewer requested minor revisions.
2. After about 15 days, the handling editor invited a third reviewer for arbitration, but no one responded. On January 15th, an email was sent to recommend another reviewer, who finally accepted and provided comments on January 21st.
3. The editor handled the paper on January 24th, giving a major revision.
4. The revised manuscript was returned on February 6th, with quick acceptance from STJ, WE, and UR. It was sent to two reviewers (now knowing that the rejected reviewer was not included).
5. On February 10th, all reviewers submitted their feedback, with both reviewers accepting the paper directly.

Objective evaluation:
· ATE, as a thermodynamics journal with significant influence, also has a high impact factor. It doesn't feel like a "low-quality journal" as some online comments suggest. It is still challenging to get published there! I have already had one paper accepted by ICHMT, although it has a slightly higher impact factor, it seems to be less well-known!
· Overall, the process is very fast, and the reviewers' response time is short. Excluding the time spent on inviting a third reviewer for arbitration, it feels like it could be accepted in as little as two months!
