I haven't published here yet, but I just reviewed a manuscript for PNAS a few days ago. After accepting the review, the editorial office sent a request that "PNAS strives to publish papers of exceptional quality and importance. Please consider the novelty and general interest of this article when preparing your review", and it required the reviewer to return comments back within ten days. When submitting review comments, the system requires the following evaluation of the paper: Suitable Quality? Sufficient General Interest? Conclusions Justified? Clearly Written? Procedures Described? Supplemental Material Warranted? Willingness to Re-review? etc. PNAS has been affected by the impact of OA publications, but its status is equally high, and the impact factor is nothing. I hope that I will have the opportunity to publish one article here in the future.

The PNAS Review is very interesting; my two submissions were a bit long. The reason is that the editor has conducted a preliminary review of the article and proposed detailed revision comments and suggestions. After submitting the revised data according to the comments, the editor found two reviewers, responded for about 1 month, and gave yes or no re: the innovation, universality, data volume, writing, etc., and put forward specific opinions. The supplementary data was modified and submitted. It took a total of 8 months. received April 15, 2022; accepted November 18, 2022. The first review lasted for a full 5 months. I dared not ask during this period, and it was a time of torment. Fortunately, the feedback from the first review required major revisions, which allowed me to conduct experiments for nearly two months (due to the school closure caused by the epidemic). This is the first article of my doctoral period, and I am fortunate to have it published in PNAS.
