I love the journal and hate it, what I hate is the torture of the reviewers, what I love is the responsibility of the editor and the control of the quality of the manuscripts. Now I post the process of submission to you for your reference. New Journal of Chemistry is a journal of Royal Society of Chemistry. The quality of manuscripts at the upper middle level in this field. The submission process is as follows: The status changed into primary review the day after submission. It was with editor in two days and in peer review in three days. (Assigning the manuscript was fast.). 20 days later, the comments came back. There were two reviewers, one minor revision (There were 8 comments. Generally, it’s easy to reply, this reviewer was nice). One reviewer suggested making major revision (There were 11 comments, it’s basically difficult to reply, supplementing various experiments and analyses was requested, this reviewer was tricky). The editor gave major revision. I revised carefully, especially the comments of the second tricky reviewer. I submitted it in one month. (Now the manuscript contained a lot of content, the word count of the text without supplementary materials was 7000, and the first draft was only about 5000.) The first reviewer was very satisfied with the revision and agreed to accept it. But the second tricky reviewer still disagreed and asked me to supplement the experiments. (There is an episode, the second reviewer had been dragging for two weeks before simply replying, and then asked me to supplement the experiments. At this time, I felt that the second reviewer deliberately targeted me, I guess it was the peer competition.) There was no other way but immersing myself in the experiments. I submitted the revision in 20 days. (At this time, the manuscript was over 8000 words, and I was exhausted.)

I submitted my article on solvent extraction. I had reviewers’ comments in a month, with minor revisions and a major revision. One of the reviewers gave 23 articles, mainly details, and raised a lot of questions about the English proficiency. It is estimated that this is also the reason why the editor gave the rejection.
