Almost all freely submitted contributions that meet the level of academic scrutiny required for publication need to be returned to the author for revisions before publication, such as compressing the length of the article, redesigning tables, improving the quality of illustrations, and limiting the use of irregular abbreviations. However, returning a manuscript to the author for revisions does not mean that the article has been accepted; the final decision on acceptance depends on whether the author's modifications to the key content and expression of the article meets the requirements of the reviewers and editors. 
Materials typically returned to the author for revisions include the original manuscript, reviewers' comments, and a covering letter from the editor. When authors receive the revised manuscript, they should first carefully read the modifying letter and the reviewers' comments. They should then consider whether they are able and willing to accept the suggestions of the reviewers or editors and make revisions accordingly. The likelihood of acceptance of the article can be seen from the response letter from the editor and the modifications suggested by the reviewers. Revisions should not be rushed; authors should carefully read and understand the reviewers' issues. They should respond to each reviewer's comments individually and specifically indicate where changes have been made in the revised manuscript (page, lines). They should also write back to the editor, thanking them for their suggestions for modifications and explaining any reasons for not following certain suggestions
