An article got accepted in the group. We discussed it with the editor in a meeting for a long time before it was submitted. The manuscript was revised and resubmitted two months after submission, and two months after resubmission, a minor revision was made and it got accepted. The content published was about an optoelectronic system that had been built for five years.

Focus on innovative methods. The editor will reject 80% of the manuscripts within 1~2 weeks. 20% will be sent to the external audit, and 8% of them will be accepted. In summary, the acceptance rate is less than 2%. Regarding my manuscript, the editor refused on the 13th day, but the reviewers are still polite. The main reason for refusal is that “technical innovation is not enough to attract widespread attention”. It’s an "unreachable" journal!

Submitted to Nature in February, reviewed within a week, rejected a month and a half later. The feedback was relatively constructive, emphasizing the innovative aspects that were positively noted. The paper was then transferred to Nature Methods, where the editor immediately recommended revising the manuscript based on the feedback from Nature. The revised manuscript was resubmitted in May and reviewed again by two experts from Nature. Further revisions were made in June, with fewer suggested changes. After quickly addressing the remaining comments, the manuscript was resubmitted in early July, reviewed again, and ultimately accepted in early August. However, there were still some issues raised by the reviewers that needed to be addressed, along with detailed formatting suggestions from the editor. After addressing each point, the final acceptance was granted within a week. Overall feeling: Despite rejection from the main journal, if the feedback is good, the editors at NM are very considerate. However, as others have mentioned, the time it takes for decisions can be long due to editor deliberations, typically taking about two weeks for an initial decision
