I have an article accepted after twists and turns of the submission process. I wanted to finished it quickly and submitted a communication to Angew, but it was rejected in the second review. After supplementing the experiment and verification, it was transferred to Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) as an article. It was accepted after minor revision. It was processed by professor Tan. It is luck in misfortune, although it takes a bit long time.

The manuscript was submitted on September 18 and forwarded to the associate editor on July 22th. I received review decision on August 8th. And the recommendations of both reviewers were minor revisions which were basically small changes about formatting, images and references. It was returned on August 17th and accepted on August 21th! It was the first time to submit a paper to a journal of such level like Journal of the American Chemical Society. It took about a month from submission to acceptance. It was very smooth! Hope to keep up the good work!

My research direction mainly focused on analysis, it is too difficult for the articles of ordinary analysis to be published on Journal of the American Chemical Society. Two jobs with innovations and had a certain mechanism discussion were submitted to it. One article was rejected directly in three days. One communication was sent for review, and the comments came back in about 4 weeks, one major revision and one rejection, and then it was rejected.

I submitted a paper last year and the reviewers took 20 days to examine it. I only had to make moderate revisions. One reviewer said it was completely okay and the other reviewer said there were a few comments to address. Our paper was accepted two weeks after we made the revisions. As for my second paper, I feel that it has novel ideas but I fear that there are reviewers who may not have time to review it.

Here is another submission process for JACS to share with you. I submitted to Nature Synthesis and Nature Common, but they were not accepted for review. It seems that for the N series, it is still necessary for the supervisor to have connections and be able to talk to the editors. It is really difficult to submit blindly.

I submitted to JACS on 240205 and then went home for the Chinese New Year without paying attention to the updates. After three months, on 240425, I received the reviewer comments. There were four reviewers, one minor revision, one major revision, one rejection, and one arbitrator who suggested a minor revision. The editor decided to go with the major revision based on experience, as usually JACS would not consider the rejection comments. However, the rejection comments were too general, so the editor decided to give the arbitrator a chance, which led to a longer review process. So, for those who are submitting to JACS, don't worry if you don't hear back right away, no news is good news.

I made revisions on 0606 and it was accepted on 0629. I also designed a cover, but it was not selected.

Submitted to Angew on 03/29, rejected on 05/27, with three reviewers - one minor revision, one rejection, and one agreed with the rejection. The rejection comments were quite broad, suspected they didn't carefully read the article. Thought about appealing but would have to wait in line for results, which could take one to two months, so didn't bother to appeal. The article was left untouched for a while. 
Submitted to JACS on 09/18, sent for review a week later, received reviewer comments on 11/01 - one minor revision and one major revision, with the editor giving a month for the major revision. 
Requested an extension once in between, revised on 12/19, and accepted on 01/09.

The next step is to come back for editorial review on September 6, 2024, with feedback from four reviewers resulting in rejection. After making significant revisions for over two months, the revised manuscript was resubmitted on November 15, 2024, and is currently with the editor-in-chief.

The article catalyzed by enzymes received about seventy to eighty comments in the first round, and was rejected. However, the opportunity to resubmit for revisions was given. It was mentioned at that time that it might still be sent to the same four reviewers, or new reviewers could be chosen. After three months of additional experiments, it was resubmitted and a new editor was assigned. The editor held onto it for nine days, causing a bit of panic as it coincided with the Chinese New Year. The review process was delayed significantly. After twenty-seven days, there was finally some news - it was the same reviewers as before, with two agreeing to accept and two requesting minor revisions. The revisions were made in two days and it was accepted three days later. From the initial submission on October 15, 23, to acceptance on March 1, 24, the editor at JACS was very nice, and the reviewers were extremely meticulous and professional. They were able to pinpoint key issues. In any case, it was accepted, which was fortunate.
