The focus of my article was the role of drug-regulated autophagy in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury. Two months after submitting, I received review comments asking for revisions and an additional figure. A month later I received the response to the revision, asking for minor corrections. One reviewer still had comments on the details. After submitting a response to the reviewer’s question, the article was accepted. After a full five months, the article had been revised several times. The journal is very rigorous, the reviewers are also very rigorous, and the requirements for articles and images are high. Finally, all of the reviewers were satisfied.

It has been almost 3 months since the revision, with one major revision and one minor revision, both of which were smoothly accepted. The editor handled both revisions quickly after two rounds of submission. The journal can be published in both OA and traditional formats, but the OA layout fee is a bit expensive. Unexpectedly, the journal's ranking in the Chinese Academy of Sciences has dropped to Zone 3 this year. However, the journal is confident in returning to Zone 2 and hopes to make efforts to impact Zone 1.

The reviewers are probably still reviewing the submission, as many articles in this journal take 5-7 months to be accepted. The publication schedule is not very frequent, and the peer review process is strict with high-quality reviewers, unlike journals in the Frontiers series which publish 3000-5000 articles in a year
