Experience sharing: This is my first independent submission. I have submitted an article to this journal before, but it was not accepted due to limited data. This time, I have more data to submit, but I am in a hurry to graduate, so I still chose the Journal of Dermatological Science. Here is my personal experience sharing, which is just a case study, I hope it is helpful.
Submitted on October 1, 2021, but the format was incorrect, so I re-uploaded on October 10th. In mid-October, it was sent for external review by the editor. By the end of October, I received feedback from three reviewers with a lot of comments, requiring major revisions to the experiments, which felt like a complete redo. I almost wanted to give up, but my supervisor strongly encouraged me to continue (with four months given). During the process of making revisions, I was hospitalized for over a month due to severe pneumonia, and I almost gave up. Returned revised in mid-December 2021.
In late December 2021, more suggestions were provided, and major revisions were required once again. Feeling overwhelmed, I submitted the revised version in mid to late January 2022. Further minor revisions were requested at the end of January, with a two-week deadline. After resubmitting at the end of January, minor revisions (language modifications) were still needed. Accepted and formatted in early February, and included in mid-February. Published at the end of March.
The entire process went through four rounds of revisions. The responses from the editor and reviewers were quite prompt, and the whole process took about five months. It felt relatively smooth, but the reviewers were quite strict, paying close attention to details. Personally, I felt it was quite fast. This is my personal experience sharing, and I hope it can be helpful to others
