After submission, nearly 2 months passed before being rejected after external review. Of the three reviewers, one suggested minor revisions, while the other two rejected the submission outright. 

JCA’s citation impact factor is not high, but it still has a good reputation in the field of chromatography analysis. However, the feedback from this external review was unexpectedly absurd. There were no substantial suggestions, and the points raised by the experts who rejected the submission contradicted each other. It feels like they didn’t read the manuscript carefully, as they questioned why certain materials were not provided even though they were clearly mentioned in the paper. They rejected it directly without even giving me a chance to respond, leaving me speechless.

The submission experience with JCA this time was quite disappointing, maybe luck was not on my side

Upon the first submission, the formatting of the submitted materials was incorrect. After making revisions, the article was resubmitted on 24th June and sent for review the following day. The review process involved three reviewers and took three weeks. The editor provided feedback requesting major revisions, including the addition of an experiment. After three weeks of revisions, the manuscript was further polished (with a language editing certificate provided). The revised version was accepted the day after it was resubmitted.

I submitted a manuscript March 28 (28/3/18) and the peer review process was completed May 8 (8/5/18); the manuscript was accepted with revisions. The peer review was very thorough and there were many thoughtful comments and suggestions provided. The editor (Dr. John Dorsey) was very kind and helpful. The revision was resubmitted June 4 (4/6/18), accepted June 10 (10/6/18), and the unformatted version was available online June 11, 2018 (11/6/18).
