The review speed was really unbelievable. It was submitted 5 whole months ago and I urged the review countless times. It was still under review. It's really like “chicken ribs”. This journal didn’t seem to set deadline for reviewers. It has been dropped to Q4 in the subcategory of Biological Materials, and will drop to Q3 in the category if without effort. For editors, it is important to speed up the review process. I feel that I will never submit to this journal again in my life.

Although the impact factor is not high, Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A is still relatively influential as the journal of the (American) Society for Biomaterials. But the review cycle is relatively long, and the article has been with editor for 4 months. I wrote an email for consultation and I was told that the reviewers had not been found. Later, the reviewers were found and comments were given quickly, minor revision was required. And then, it was accepted quickly.
