After “with editor” for 82 days, I received comments from 4 reviewers. The reviewers are very responsible and the questions are very detailed. The first reviewer asked 13 questions. Many of the questions hit the nail on the head of the manuscript without mentioning rejection and acceptance. The second one asked 9 questions. The questions are very professional and detailed, but the overall opinions are relatively optimistic. The third one recommended a rejection, saying that the manuscript was not innovative enough and there was no essential innovation! The fourth one said that the manuscript is flawed, but it can be modified! But unfortunately, it was still rejected. The quality of the journal is very good, but the volume of publications is very low (105 articles). Sometimes it really depends on the luck. This was not the case in previous years!

Journal is of good quality and focus on innovation. I majored in multi-scale material optimization design; the editor-in-chief was very interested. The writing was not good at the beginning, the editor-in-chief asked me to revise it carefully. I supplemented my stimulation for nearly a month. It was accepted in the second review. Received 20 October 2018, Revised 23 December 2018, Accepted 20 January 2019, Available online 6 March 2019. The editor-in-chief was outsourced in India, and the review was very slow. Only status of with editor was available, no under editor. I browsed many comments on this journal, Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering (CMAME) and Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids (JMPS), or International Journal of Pharmaceutics (IJP), International Journal of Solids and Structures (IJSS). I don’t think there is good or bad. Those can be published on JMPS, are not surely suitable for IJES or CMAME, everyone focuses on different points. There is no need to say which one is better, which one is inferior. These journals are all good, as long as the content is innovative. But the acceptance rate of this journal is very low. It is very good that all are double-blinded. As I know, many other journals of mechanics are mutually reviewed. It is easy for insiders’ articles to be accepted, but it is not for sure of this journal.
