Regarding time, it usually takes 1–3 days from submission to being sent for review, and the review cycle is generally between 1 and 1.5 months, and the fastest is 7 days or even shorter. Of course, this depends on the innovation of your article. In the case of high innovation, the reviewers will only need to praise you with a few words, and do not need to do everything possible to raise questions for you.

2020.3.9 Submission; 2020.3.18 sent for review; 2020.4.10 Review comments were received in three weeks, 1 major revision, 1 rejection (No innovation), and it was accepted after minor revision; I speculated that the editor received two completely opposite opinions—minor revision and rejection, so a third reviewer was found, and the third reviewer approved the content and innovation, only some experimental details and a small part of the comparative data were required to be added; in the end the editor required major revision. 2020.4.23 revised submission two weeks later; 2020.4.27 direct acceptance. According to the acceptance letter from the editor, the revised manuscript should only be sent to the third reviewer, and the opinion of the rejected reviewer were not accepted. During the epidemic, the processing speed of editors and reviewers were still very fast. Well, it depends very much on innovation, originality, or the value in the "industry" of renewable energy; currently I have submitted two articles here, one was accepted and one rejected. In summary, the articles that are not innovative enough or not of high level will directly be rejected by the editor in a second; If I remember correctly, the IF of GC has been rising in the past 5 years, and the increase has been very large. Will it exceed 10 in two or three years? But it doesn't matter whether it break through suddenly. One of my articles has just got accepted so far... It does not have a big influence. I don’t encourage you to only care about the IF, and I hate the praising of certain journals among small circles. It is really not good to belittle other journals to praise one. I personally think that for work of the renewable energy field, if it is with high originality and high application value, GC is the first choice. Of course, if it is enough for Nature, Science, or JACS, then you may ignore what I said.

The research direction is that biomass conversion graphene material (GQD), which is considered to be innovative enough, but we did not attempt to submit to JACS and Angew. This article really waited for a long time, three months before and after 2017.10.26 submission, immediately submitted for review, the time of the external review was surprisingly long, and several times the status changed. After waiting for two and a half months, I finally received a major revision on 2018.1.19. Three reviewers: one accepted, one directly rejected, and one gave major revisions. In fact, they are all minor. Revised, 2018.2.7 and officially accepted without any modification. In summary, if you submit in this journal for the first time, innovation is really important, the review cycle may be surprisingly long.
