I recently had an article accepted here, not easy! In addition to some clear clinical guiding significance, a large number of clinical specimens and data support and detailed mechanism research are needed. Also requested an animal experiment. Gene silencing requires two different siRNAs. After revision and adding new experiment, it is accepted after 5 months. The amount of added experimental data is nearly the same as that of the original submission data. The impact factor has gone up and the standards have been much higher!

Because I noticed that some of the reviews are from several years ago, I wanted to share my personal experience to provide some reference for future authors. Firstly, the editorial team of this journal is very professional and processes submissions quickly. However, I feel that due to reviewers possibly being busy, the editors may prioritize respecting the reviewers, which can result in a slower review process. Currently, submissions are under review regardless of whether they have been sent out, and there is no fee for submission. If a submission has been under review for more than two weeks, it is polite to inquire about its status with the editorial office. Here is a rough timeline of my experience:

Submitted at the end of May, quickly returned for exceeding word count. Resubmitted a few days later and then under review.
Received major revisions on August 8, with three reviewers suggesting one acceptance and two major revisions, allowing for a six-month timeframe, overall satisfactory.
Revised by December 15.
Returned on December 28 for exceeding word count, quickly revised and then under review again (editors may have been on holiday during Christmas, so it's best to follow the guidelines as much as possible).
As of January 15, it appears that opinions from two reviewers have been received.
From January 15 to February 28, the system sent three reminders, all stating to wait for the third reviewer.
Accepted on March 4, recommended for the cover.
