Two review comments, together with one review comment from the editorial office, was equivalent to three reviewers. The senior editor in charge of my field made a summary. The comments of the three reviewers were very good, very appropriate and very professional. Seeing the review comments, I regretted submitting to this journal, but I felt that I should have submitted to a better journal, and I should submit to PNAS first. The journal uses a double-blind review. When I returned the revised manuscript, my name was not deleted from the letter the senior editor sent. Then they returned it to me, saying that my personal information would be leaked. I quickly deleted it and uploaded it again. It was a hard three weeks later that they sent me an email and officially accepted it. Generally speaking, the review process was slow and they checked at every level. The IF has gradually decreased in recent years, and the new IF released this year has dropped to 4.4, which is disappointing. I hope that it could climb back to 5 again in the future.

There are fewer journal reviews, and I usually like to read reviews. So, I'm here to contribute one~ Submitted on March 1, 2023, received the first review on May 14 (Reject with Resubmission), received the feedback on July 7, received the second review on August 14 (revision), and then returned one week later. After waiting for nearly a month, it was accepted on September 19. Both reviewers and the associate editor provided professional feedback, which helped improve the article significantly. The comprehensive double-blind review process was fair and friendly to Chinese researchers. However, the entire process took more than six months, mainly due to my delay in making the first revision, which took almost two months. I personally speculate that there may not have been a major revision option in the reviewers' feedback, only options for rejection with resubmission and minor modifications
