The manuscript was submitted on November 9, and it has been 5 days now. The status has changed from With Journal Administrator at the beginning to Editor's Decision in Process. Excuse me, what is it? I wanted Drug Delivery to be a decent journal, but I don’t think that’s the case. I submitted my paper more than 3 months ago and it is still under review. I’ve emailed the editor a few times and they have never responded. Perhaps I should have known as a tech in my lab submitted their manuscript last August, and received reviews in November. The only reason I submitted is because the time to publication after your article has been accepted is quick. Based on my experience, I don’t recommend submitting to this publication.

I submitted an article in June 22 years ago, and it was returned for revisions a month later. I added experiments and it was accepted in September. Everything was going smoothly until it got stuck at the production team, who refused to let me pay the publication fee. I kept emailing them, but the editor-in-chief said his job was done and it was up to the production team. They kept saying they were checking and finally in March of the following year, they sent it for external review. Yes, you heard it right, for external review! They raised some formatting issues, I made the changes, sent it back, and it was delayed until April, with no response to my emails in between. It was getting too frustrating, so I withdrew the submission. It was a waste of almost a year! Magazines like this deserve to be struck by lightning!

Submitted in August 2023, it takes a long time from submission to external review (email requests for this and that, waiting for editors to process for 2 weeks each time without completing everything at once).
In November 2023, it comes back for revisions, and both reviewers give very positive comments saying it is suitable for publication in drug delivery. After resubmission for revisions, it sits with the editor for a long time again, and then an email requests additional ethical approval.
In January 2024, an email from the editor is received stating, "the desk assessment team has concluded that the manuscript does not currently meet the editorial requirements for publication in Drug Delivery."
Isn't this a bit too much? After all this time, with minor revisions suggested by both reviewers and no more issues from the reviewers, now you reject it??? Why didn't you just reject it earlier? Such a waste of almost half a year!

To be honest, this magazine is a bit of a pit, and my submission was rejected after four months. I submitted on April 28th and didn't hear back, so I followed up twice before getting some response. It wasn't until the end of June that there was any movement. On August 11th, the editor emailed questioning the authenticity of the content, asking for additional original data to resubmit. I sent over extremely detailed original data in an Excel file, only to be asked to resubmit again and answer the editor's questions. The frustrating part was that after answering the questions, the editor, acting like a fool, asked me to answer them again without even looking at my previous response. Finally, on August 21st, I was notified of the rejection, with the reason being that the content was not thorough enough. It's really frustrating, they should have just rejected it if it wasn't suitable instead of stringing me along for so long. However, during this process, the coordinator for this publishing house in China did help a bit
