CC is a comprehensive journal, and papers from all directions are accepted, and JMCA is a material-oriented journal. At least those who do materials will not give priority to CC if they can submit to JMCA. People who work in chemistry will not submit to JMCA. JMCA is a top goalkeeper for material journals. CC is also equivalent to the position of the goalkeeper of the top chemistry journals. Neither of them is much better. There is no need to belittle JMCA when your paper was accepted by CC. To be reasonable, everyone knows exactly how CC is now. Various strong new journals in chemistry have been established. CC has been declining year by year, ACS Central Science, NC, Chemical Science, etc., as well as NPG’s Communication Chemistry, their statuses are not as good as before. The only advantage of CC now is that it is a natural index journal. With all due respect, in the natural index journal, CC is the easiest one to be accepted.

You know that I refreshed the review status every day after seeing such a detailed record. I received the review comments requiring a major revision in about a month. Revision submitted in two weeks and it was accepted in two weeks. This is relatively slow largely because one of the reviewers is quite difficult to cope with. It is recommended to submit to Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry. The other two reviewers are very positive. I feel that the reviewers are still very cautious. It should go through another round of review after the major revision. Although the whole process is very disturbing, the first article in life is finally accepted. I am more scared than hurt! I am happy. The stage of studying for master is over, and then pursue doctor's degree!

Based on my submission to Chemical Communications, I think that the journal’s review process is rigorous. This is a short-format journal (short communication articles only), so it is important to be concise but also thorough when describing your experiments – don’t ignore certain steps to meet the word count. The editors and reviewers are very responsible and efficient. It has been suggested that CC plans to reduce the amount of articles published per year starting in 2018. In my opinion, the current IF does not express the scientific merit of this journal; it’s likely to break 7 next year. If your research is novel, submit to CC. The review period is short; never exceeded 38 days for my submissions!

The efficiency of the journal editors is very high. Usually, there are two reviewers, but when their initial opinions differ, the editor will send the manuscript to a third reviewer. In the end, a major revision was requested. The review comments were returned about 3 weeks later, and the acceptance decision was made in 4-5 days. Thankful to the journal and the editors.
