We submitted our paper at the end of October. The first round of reviews was returned in 3 weeks; our manuscript was recommended for major revisions. We completed the revisions and addressing the reviewers’ comments – which included completing a lot of additional experiments – and then re-submitted our revised document in mid-January. After a couple rounds of minor revisions, our paper was finally accepted in mid-Feb.

Submitted on October 7th, returned on October 22nd with two reviewers. One had some questions about the compound structure, and the other requested additional data, resulting in major revisions. On November 10th, some statements were modified and new activity data was added as per the reviewers' comments, and the manuscript was resubmitted. Accepted on November 13th. It took 37 days from submission to acceptance

Review speed: 1.0 | Submission hit rate: 50.0 Experience sharing: On June 6, 2013, I submitted a paper to Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. It took 3 weeks for the review process, but unfortunately, the results were tragic. The first reviewer suggested submitting to chemistry & Biology, while the second and third reviewers recommended submitting to ChemBioChem. My supervisor suggested changing the submission to a full paper in JACS. After some struggle, I decided to follow the reviewers' suggestions and submitted to ChemBioChem one week later. On June 30, 2013, I submitted the revised paper along with the reviewers' comments. On July 2nd, it was accepted. As of July 31st, the website shows that the paper has been accepted and it is estimated that the proofreading will be done in one or two days, with the journal expected to be published at the end of August. ChemBioChem is a good journal with high standards. This is the second time I have published in it, and the requirements are very high. Germans are very strict, and I hope to score over 4 next year

Experience sharing: Submitted a paper on October 31, 2012. After 21 days of review, the editor asked for major revisions. I added a few experiments, but there was one experiment that I didn't add. I negotiated with the reviewers. Revised the paper on January 10, 2013. On the 23rd, the editor gave a minor revision, telling me it was conditionally accepted, but I needed to answer the reviewers' questions and make the changes they requested. Revised again on January 25, and returned the revised version on February 1, addressing a few minor issues. Returned again on February 2. On February 12, I was informed that the paper will be used as an inside cover picture. I completed the final version on February 20 and paid 750 euros. I received the galley proof on February 18
