CTR has always adhered to the morphology-based philosophy, so the research articles published here are mostly on histochemistry, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization. According to the journal’s guidelines, they prefers research in the fields of neurobiology, neuroendocrinology, endocrinology, reproductive biology, developmental biology, bones, and the immune system. The review period is generally 1 month, color figures are free (which is uncommon for print), and there is no layout fee. This is one of the most straightforward submission processes that I ever dealt with.

The first review took 4 months, and the feedback was mostly positive. It was given a major revision period of 2 months.
