Timeline: 2 weeks for submission, 1 month and 20 days for the first review, 1 month for major revision (applied for an extension, then it became 3 months in total), 10 days for revision re-submission, 20 days for second review, 6 days for acceptance, proofreading, and filling in the form. After completing the above work, it was indexed in PubMed in about 1 week, and it is not known yet how long it will take from index to publication (it should be 3–5 months according to the online experience). (3 papers submitted by our department, but only one was accepted.) Overall impression: it requires the articles to be innovative and rigorous; the overall rhythm is not fast or slow but relatively punctual; no page fee is required.

Each year, I submitted about 2-4 articles, and most of them were accepted. However, after I became an editorial board member, I found that it is harder than before, I had discussed with the editor-in-chief, and he told me that as an editorial board member, I have better just submit one article each year. The review speed is okay. After 2 months of the first review, opinions requiring major revisions was given, and after the revisions， it was sent to the reviewers again. After one month of review, I was given some little comments. After a total of four months, it finally got accepted. I wrote the first review article in the relevant field, and the experimental articles in this field now are all top journals with at least 10+ impact factors. The editor directly replied with "the concept is not advanced enough," but I don't understand where the concept is not advanced.
