I helped deliver a clinical anesthesia article to our hospital. The initial draft was full of questions from the editor (I have submitted dozens of SCI papers before, but this is the first time I have encountered such nitpicking from an editor). Some of the questions were not very reasonable, and the two reviewers also raised many issues, which we had to accept. Because they were interested in the research content, they gave us a chance to revise. We spent a lot of effort answering dozens of questions in detail and made revisions to the article. Upon resubmission, the editor rejected it, citing reasons that were somewhat strained. So, I wrote an appeal letter to the editor, stating that we only needed to add some data and could completely answer other questions. The editor gave us another chance, and we spent over 2 months adding data. We felt confident that it would be accepted. However, the editor rejected us again, asking if I had asked you to add data last time and raising many more unreasonable questions. So, we had to give up. Overall, this editor seems a bit odd, and submitting to his journal is really tiring
