The manuscript was submitted in December, and the revision comments returned more than 40 days later. Three reviewers, two recommended revisions, and one recommended direct acceptance. The editor required major revision and I submitted it again after a month of revision, and revision was required again within a month. It was mainly the opinion of the editor. I did not follow the requirements of the journal at some places. The revised manuscript was returned 6 days later. After another 5 days, it was accepted. The journal has strict requirements for animal experiments. It was suitable for people who are in the direction of pharmacology.

Publication in the British Journal of Pharmacology is difficult. We submitted in June and after some serious revisions (including re-running multiple experiments), our manuscript was finally accepted at the end of January the following year. The process is likely faster if you have minor revisions.

It took nearly a year for the journal to accept the submission. The standards of the journal are very high, requiring a minimum of 5 for both data replication and sample size. Original data must be submitted, and the journal editors are very thorough and responsible. It is a top pharmacology journal with a lot of influence! Just not sure why it is in the 2nd tier of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
