I agree with @111% for the positioning of iScience. I have also published an article in the journal, which was transferred from Cell Reports. Therefore, iScience is definitely not as good as Cell Reports. In view of the fact that the impact factor of Cell Reports is stable at around 8 all year round, it is considered successful if the impact factor of iScience can be stable at 5–8 points all year round. Cell Reports Physical Science, Cell Reports Medicine should be regarded as journals side by side with Cell Reports, and only under the Cell Reports series is iScience. Now that Cell Reports Physical Science cuts off iScience's manuscript source, it is more difficult for iScience to improve the impact factor.

You published in iScience, and everyone understands your feelings, but do you know what a sister journal is? Currently Cell has only 4 sister journals (as sister journal to Cell) and they are clearly stated in the journal homepage and submission system. Cell Reports Physical Science is a sister journal to Cell Reports (as sister journal to Cell Reports). The editor emphasizes that it positions at a same level. Cell Reports is the sub-journal of Cell (Cell Reports is an open-access journal from Cell press).

The hierarchy of the journals in Cell press series is similar to that of Nature: the first echelon journals are Cell and its four interdisciplinary sister journals (Joule, Matter, One Earth, Chem); the second echelon journals are Cell series of major sub-journals (Cancer Cell, Cell Chemical Biology, Cell Stem Cell, etc.), and of course, Cell’s sister journals can also be classified in the category of large sub-journals; the third echelon journals are Cell’s small sub-journals (Cell Reports Physical Science, Cell Reports); the fourth echelon journal is the grandson of Cell (iScience); the fifth echelon journal is the great grandson of Cell (Heliyon).
