I submitted for five months, and it was under review for two months. In the end, it was rejected without being sent for review. The reason for rejection was that the editor felt that another one of my submissions on a different topic was better. However, the two topics are actually completely different. It would have been better to reject it earlier rather than dragging it out for six months. It's too much of a waste of time.
