I am currently pursuing a PhD in Industrial Engineering in the United States. I have noticed a peculiar phenomenon, which is that this journal is highly recognized in the United States, at least not inferior to EJOR, and perhaps even slightly higher. However, its popularity in China cannot be compared to EJOR. This may be related to the professional setting in China. The field of Industrial Engineering in China is not the same as in foreign countries, at least not the same as what I know about in the United States. In China, most Industrial Engineering programs are affiliated with business schools, and researchers in this field mainly focus on Operations Management. On the other hand, in the United States, all Industrial Engineering departments are part of engineering colleges, and the research topics are diverse, with a relatively stronger emphasis on Engineering. Fewer IE departments in the US focus on Operations Management. As a result, even if someone in China is studying Industrial Engineering, they mainly pay attention to journals from a few business schools and are not familiar with IISE Transactions. In fact, if one is conducting research in the field of Industrial Engineering that is more inclined towards Engineering, this journal is considered as the top-tier publication.

The requirement is not only theoretical innovation but also a strong engineering application background.
