The genome is inherently time-sensitive. Let me criticize this journal a bit. It has been 8 months since I submitted my manuscript and it still hasn't been accepted.

1. After 20 days of submission, they sent it for external review, but surprisingly, they only modified the formatting and asked me to make the necessary changes accordingly.

2. It took a whole year for them to send it back for revisions. On February 16th, it finally went through external review by two experts. The feedback was okay, and I made changes to the content as suggested.

3. On March 19th, I sent it back for revisions, but it stayed with the editor for over a month, almost two months. It was not moving forward during this time.

4. Another 20 days for external review, with two reviewers. I received their feedback on June 9th and made the necessary revisions.

5. After sending it back for revisions, one reviewer had no major concerns. The assistant editor asked for minor changes in the figures and formatting. I don't understand why they didn't ask for these changes earlier.

6. On June 29th, the assistant editor requested additional changes in the figure captions, a very minor issue. Instead of addressing it all at once, they sent it back for revisions within a day.

7. Finally, on June 28th, it was returned to me. It has been 14 days since the last round of revisions, and I have no idea what the current status is. The outcome is still unknown.
